you have an emergency, call emergency helpline and provide
them with the following information:
- Name
- Addresses or Location
- Telephone Number
- Type of Building or Site
- Type and strength of odor
- Location of Odor (Inside by
appliance or outside by the meter or site)
Specified
work should be done according to different situations:
If
you notice a slight smell of gas:
- Open doors and windows.
- Call Emergency help lines immediately.
If
the smell gets stronger or is accompanied by a "hissing"
noise:
- Remain calm.
- Leave the house immediately,
leaving the doors and windows open.
- Call Emergency help lines from
a safe distance.
If
you smell gas outside:
- Call Emergency help lines.
- Keep clear of the area and keep
doors and windows closed.
- Put out all open flames.
If
you see a gas fire:
- Call your local fire department.
- Do not attempt to put out the
fire yourself and never use water on burning gas.
If
you are near a gas leak do not:
- Turn electrical switches or
appliances, etc. on or off.
- Use a cellular telephone.
- Start any motors or motor vehicles
- Use lighters or matches or smoke.
If
you smell gas indoors or outdoors:
- Don't use your telephone or
cellular phone. Call from a neighbor¡¯s phone.
- Don't turn any electrical switches,
appliances or computers on or off.
- Don't smoke or use lighters
or matches.
- Don't start any motors
or motor vehicles near the gas leak.
